A colonoscopy is basically an outpatient procedure performed by gastroenterologist which is used to examine the inside of the large intestine (rectum or colon). It is most commonly used for evaluating several symptoms of the gastrointestinal tract, such as changes in the habits of the bowel, intestinal bleeding, rectal bleeding, etc. During the procedure, if your doctor identifies that seems to be abnormal like polyps or any abnormal growths, he might remove some small amounts of tissues for the analysis. Before a colonoscopy, make sure that you let your doctor know about your medical conditions like Lung conditions, Heart Conditions, Pregnancy, Allergies to any medications, and Diabetes.
